Kamling Chinese Restaurant

Kamling is a very old Chinese eatery, close to Marine drive and bang opposite Gaylord's. We chose the ac section over the al fresco seating due to the humidity. This place has got its own charm. The non fancy, prinouts-put-together menu cards, old waiters, the interiors are an oldfangled reminder of the early 90's. However what brings you back to reality is a bottle of mineral water priced at INR 100.

We ordered the Chicken noodle soup which arrived rather quickly. It was early evening and people had just started walking in. The soup bowl was filled with lots of noodles, chicken and vegetables. It had a lingering aroma of boiled chicken stew. Delicious and quite filling.

Next up we ordered the Chicken Mushroom Vegetable steamed rice. We wanted something that would be light on the stomach that evening. This helped us perfect. Large chunks of  boiled veggies and chicken served on steamed rice was appetizing.

If your palate prefers spices then you may not appreciate these mildly flavoured slightly on the bland side dishes. And if you happen to visit this place, do try the starters and let me know.

Cost: INR 1200 for two

Address: 82, Nagin Mahal, Veer Nariman Road, Churchgate, Mumbai

  1. Oh my! It brought back old memories when I was studying French at Alliance. We used to have lunch there sometimes thanks to quick service and light food!
